Memories

I'm a little behind schedule, but I finished my grandson's Year 3 photo book. I used to make these for my younger daughter since everything was digitized in the 2000's, but I scrapbooked my older daughter's early years when that trend was huge in the 90's. If you're around my age then you remember the scrapbooking and stamping parties we had-- gosh, those were fun...

What I need to get better at is printing out the photos I take instead of letting them accumulate in the Cloud. There's something nostalgic and historical about having hard copies of photos-- the ink, the paper, the cropping tell a story a digital image cannot.

To Do

The guest room in our house has always been searching for an identity so this spring/summer I am going to lean into a more masculine aesthetic. Last spring I was inspired by the traditional Ralph Lauren style and bought some bedding for the room, but didn't have a complete vision for it. In addition we were in full wedding planning all spring for my younger daughter so the guest room went to the back burner. It worked out better to wait because I found some new art, a vintage dresser, and decor that will fill out the space.

To Wear

According to the internet florals are back this spring (aren't they back every spring?) The dresses and tops I've seen are so beautiful, but I just don't wear dresses and fancy tops anymore-- not since I left the classroom. You should've seen me last year trying to find a "fancy but not too fancy" dress for the wedding at the barn-- and don't get me started on finding heels! I'm pretty sure I stopped wearing heels in my mid 30's. Also, I'm still cold until summer really hits so I want to keep wearing hoodies and sweatpants. Well, thank you Abercrombie and Gap for bringing florals and hoodies together! Now we can have a spring boost and still be warm.

“A great way to completely update a room is to add or change the art-- and it doesn't have to be expensive. The hardest part is finding art that connects to you, but we'll talk about that next week!

ABOUT ME

Hi, Welcome to my page! I am a wife, mom to two adult daughters, and a grandma to a high energy three year old grandson. I have no formal training in design or art; I'm just an amateur who loves sharing affordable home decor and lifestyle finds while on a journey to bring Jesus more into my life and home. I am a retired elementary school teacher so changing decor seasonally is a work behavior I enjoyed that spilled over into my home aesthetic.

The name of the site is a reference to my favorite verse from Matthew 7:13-14

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate ad broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few ever find it."
